Prepare Your Home For Heavy Rainfall In The Upstate
6/7/2019 (Permalink)
According to the meteorologists, the Upstate will suffer the effects of rain fall for a whole week. Homeowners should not take this lightly, especially if they haven't prepared for the water heading our way. Here are a few things that homeowners should double check and inspect around their home to insure no damage is caused by these storms.
Roof Inspection
Your roof is the first line of defense. Any crack to tear could lead to damage inside your home. A roof inspection/repairs should be made to prevent water from making its way into your home.
Clean Gutters
Gutters are basically a part of your roofing system. Making sure that your gutters are not cracked and debris free will help keep your home safe. Blockage caused by the debris will cause flooding in your roofing systems which could be very problematic.
Inspect Inside Your Home
Another way to keep your home safe is to inspect the inside of your home. Making sure that all windows and doors are closed and sealed properly will help keep the water out. If there are any damages, make sure to repair them before it is too late.
Surrounding Trees
Lastly, cutting those branches that hang over your home is a game changer. The leaves will clog your gutters and you are running the risk of having those bigger branches causing damage to the structure of your home and cause more problems.
Hopefully everyone in the Upstate area takes these tips on how to protect your home this week from all the rain fall we are going to experience.
