Commercial Vandalism: 3 Do's and Don'ts to Consider Before SERVPRO Arrives
10/7/2021 (Permalink)
Vandalism is a damage type that is often over-looked by the typical property owner. This makes it increasingly more difficult to deal with when your commercial building/property is spray painted or damaged. Often attempting to deal with vandalism yourself results in further damage to the exterior of your building. To avoid making any additional damage, SERVPRO of Spartanburg County has a list of things to do (and what NOT to do) until SERVPRO arrives:
DO:
- Hose or wash egg damage from the building exterior as soon as possible.
- Vacuum glass particles from carpet and upholstery to avoid any injuries.
- Save containers which could reveal the ingredients of spilled inks, cosmetics, and paints so that SERVPRO knows exactly what products to use.
DON'T
- Attempt to remove ink, paint, or cosmetic stains yourself. Stain manipulation could spread or push stain makeup deeper into the affected material.
- Operate damaged lamps, electronics, or appliances.
- Discard furniture wood-chips, broken pieces from porcelain, furniture, or art objects.
